“I’ve been a family child care provider for thirteen years, because I’m passionate about providing loving, quality care for kids in my community, alongside my own. But climate change is endangering our safety and livelihood. I’ve stayed open through smoky days, when I could see fires on the hills from my window. I’ve paid high utility bills to keep my air conditioning running through record heat days. I’ve stepped up to open my home for children evacuating from fire zones. Now I’m asking our politicians to step up and protect California workers and our communities with strong smoke and heat standards, and clear rights for workers in disaster zones so that we can keep ourselves and the children we care for safe.”
